The statewide contract for the Oregonian ends July 31 and will not be renewed due to a massive price increase. Access to Oregonian articles will continue to be available through LexisNexis Academic.

We are pleased to let you know that the OSU Libraries are conducting a trial of ACLS Humanities E-Book. The trial will run through June 30, 2008.

This electronic resource includes 1700 full-text, cross-searchable books in the humanities selected for their continuing importance to students and scholars. In summer 2008, and every year thereafter, HEB will be adding 500 titles to the collection.

The project includes both in-print and out-of print books and adds 500 titles a year. It is a collaboration of the American Council of Learned Societies, various constituent members of the ACLS and nearly 95 publishers.

Areas include: Comparative/World, Africa, America, Asia, Latin America, Europe (Ancient, Medieval, Renaissance, and Modern), the Middle East, Byzantium and the Mediterranean, and Australasia/Oceania, plus Women’s studies, of the Native Peoples of the Americas, and history of Economics, Science and Technology, Archaeology, Art History, Folklore, Religion, Musicology, and Political Science.

This site allows for simultaneous multi-user access; individual books can be added to e-reserve; and you can link from a syllabus to books/chapters. If we subscribe, a cataloging record for each book in the collection will appear in our catalog with a link to the online text.

A trial of the London Times Digital Archive 1785-1985 has been set up and will run through May 29, 2008.

The Times Digital Archive is a full-image online archive of every page published by The Times [London] from 1785-1985. The text within the images is fully searchable at the article level. Users can easily search news articles, obituaries, advertising and classifieds — virtually everything that appeared in the newspaper. Results are displayed at the article level and users may view the article — or the full page upon which it appeared.

Science Direct (Elsevier journals) will be unavailable for approximately 30 minutes during the period: 8:00 PM - 8:30 PM on Friday, April 11, 2008. This is due to scheduled maintenance work by the publisher.

4/10/08: Wiley has corrected the problems and access to the Wiley Interscience Journals is restored.

This message is to alert you of an interruption in the online service for Wiley InterScience.

On Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at approximately 12:00 noon U.S. Eastern Daylight Savings Time, the Wiley InterScience server facility experienced technical difficulties. The problem is being addressed and a follow-up notice will go out as soon as access is restored.

At this time, the library does not have an estimated time that the journals will be available again.

OSU Libraries has a current trial of the WestLaw Campus Research database. Campus Research is an easy-to-use online research service that provides college and university students with access to a comprehensive collection of news and business information and law-related resources.

OSU Libraries has a current trial of the APA PsycNET database. PsycNET is the American Psychological Association (APA) platform for their electronic resources including:

• PsycINFO - bibliographic database of scholarly literature in the psychological, social, behavioral, and health sciences. PsycINFO covers journals, books, reviews, and dissertations.
• PsycARTICLES - full-text database of journals published by APA and other publishers in subject areas such as applied psychology, health, theory, research, social/personality, and more.
• PsycBOOKS - full-text database of APA books, classic books, and entries from the Encyclopedia of Psychology.
• PsycEXTRA - a gray literature database. Gray literature is material written for professionals and disseminated outside of peer-reviewed journals. Documents include newsletters, magazines, newspapers, technical and annual reports, government reports, consumer brochures, and more.

We are experiencing problems accessing Zoological Record on the CSA Illumina platform. We are currently waiting for a response from CSA. You can still access Zoological Record on the ISI Web of Knowledge platform. Zoological Record is again available on the CSA platform

Web of Science is the web version of Science Citation Index (SCI) and Social Science Citation Index (SSCI). Web of Science accesses a multidisciplinary database of bibliographic information gathered from thousands of scholarly journals. The databases are indexed so you can search for specific articles by subject, author, journal, and/or author address. Because the information stored about each article includes the article’s cited reference list (often called its bibliography), you can also search the databases for articles that cite a known author or work.

Coverage for these databases has now been extended back to 1970 for both the Science Citation Index and Social Science Citation Index. The library is grateful for funds donated to Friends of the Library that were used to help make this purchase possible.
